A Singles Dream for West Virginia   September 10th, 2009

West_Virginia-Singles2009-webMy name is Marques Johnson. I am a single leader in the Hampton Roads Church in Virginia Beach Va. I have been promoting a dream for singles in the ACR family of churches to be the catalyst to replant a church in Charleston WV, there are currently no ICOC church’s in the state of WV. I began back in July by sending a message to a dozen singles about a day of prayer and fasting for WV. About 12 people joined in on this fast. Most recently 18 single disciples from the Hampton Roads church traveled 6 1/2 hours to Charleston West Virginia where we hosted a singles led Sunday service on the steps of the state capital building. Twenty nine people in all attended. All 7 members of the Lexington, Kentucky singles drove 3 hours to join us. Members of the Roanoke Valley singles also attended. We viewed this as a faithful step towards singles making a huge impact on the mission as well as sparking our church’s to start more church plantings.  To God be the Glory!

I was born and raised in West Virginia and live in Nashville, TN now. Please let me know when you plan another outing to Charleston and I will be there as well!

I was once a member of the NYC Church of Christ, I fell away back in 1999. In 2003, I moved to Charleston, WV. To make a long story short, I wanted to return to the church. I have contacted the Pittsburgh and the Cincinnati church, with hopes of one day moving to one of those locations so that I can return to the kingdom. I too have been praying for a church to come to this state, again (I know there was one in Morgantown, WV, but it fell apart due to persecution).
I am almost in tears, just knowing there where disciples here and that WV hasn’t been forgotten. If possible, I would also like to know the next time you will be here.

If anyone is still having services in Charleston, please let me know. I reached out to a friend of mine who moved to Huntington and she’s pretty eager to find God. If you have any information on worship services there, please e-mail me at omarkclarke@gmail.com
